The ultimate cruiser ride (45mph speed limit) , running from Cherokee NC and ending in Virginia. I have ridden the southern half and the highest and most scenic (imo) is the stretch from Cherokee to Asheville NC. If you attempt to access the BRP on roads like US 80 out of Marion NC, best be use to sharp conering and steep grades. The parkway is not a challege. It is probably the safest ride in America. Getting on and off can be "fun"! Cherokee's end is a breeze. Blowing Rock (US 321) is fine. There are campgrounds, private close by off the parkway and park service sites available (a good one at Linnville Falls). There are overlooks frequently.Best plan your restroom stops. Plan your ride from the multiple internet sites available and it will be great. Fog is sometimes a problem. Was for me. For pictures and a ride report of my recent visit (9/02)check out my site.
